J Lyons Corner House on Strand and Craven Street

George Davison Reid took this photo from the junction of the Strand and Craven Street. In the centre can be seen Nelson's Column. To the left a view of the facade of the Strand branch of J.Lyons' Corner House restaurant and food hall. The food hall, located on the ground floor, sold a range of Lyon's products including cakes, biscuits and hand-made chocolates some of which can be seen in the elaborate window display. Opposite, at No 456 The Strand, is a branch of Jaeger, the fashion retailer that had expanded dramatically during the 1920s.
