This panel depicting jazz musicians belonged to a listening booth in Dobell's Jazz Record Shop. When Doug Dobell inherited his father's bookshop on Charing Cross Road, he transformed it into a music shop. It became a hangout for jazz fans. Dobell also founded the jazz and folk record label '77'. Jazz is a form of music developed by African Americans, which is a blend of European harmony and African rhythms.
