This poster printed in Arabic was produced in the UK. It depicts women operating machinery in a factory. A series of posters like this one were distributed throughout the British Empire in the build-up to World War II. They were intended to portray Britain as an efficient industrial nation preparing for war against Hitler. The aim was to reassure other countries belonging to the British Empire. Prior to 1945 Iraq, Palestine and Transjordan were British mandates, while Britain effectively held power in Egypt as well.
