This is the programme of the reception held at Lloyds in London in June 1933 for the World Monetary and Economic Conference. Delegations from 63 countries worldwide attended the event. Lloyds began its existence in 1688 as a coffee shop in the City of London run by Edward Lloyd. It was frequented by merchants and ship captains and owners, so became a hub for the latest shipping information and insurance. By 1771 the institution ceased to be a coffee shop and started to do business solely as an organisation of underwriters and brokers.
