Lee Boo came to England on board ship from the Island of Ulong in the Pacific in 1784. He was the second son of the island's chief. The ship made the long voyage to England via China. When Lee Boo reached England, he lived in Rotherhithe with the ship's captain, Henry Wilson. There, Lee Boo learned the English language and customs by attending school and church. However, he fell victim to smallpox and died within just a few months of his arrival. Lee Boo was buried at St. Mary's Church in Rotherhithe, where his tomb still stands today.
