Romford

'When I used to go and visit my mum in Romford, I used to go in to their Sainsbury’s – the one in the High Street that was a service shop, closed down , and they had – it was after this that they opened a supermarket in the Shopping Centre there. And when they opened that one, it sold everything, all soap and toilet things and hair things. And when I used to go and visit my mother, I used to stock up.'

(Ivy, Sainsbury's customer, recorded at Sainsbury's Veterans' Reunion, c.1994)
