Pack of jelly: Mona Lisa Jelly Dessert, Cherry

Date: 1991-1994

Accession number: 94.95/35

This jelly is marked as 100% halal and as such is suitable for use by the Muslim community. It was imported into London and bought from a grocery shop in Southall. Since the 1970s, many of London's local high streets have been transformed by the opening of shops, restaurants and services that cater specifically for the capital's growing immigrant population. Different areas of London have developed their own distinct and unique character reflecting the ethnic mix of the local community.
