Regional Programmes
For the period from August 2012 to March 2015 ACE has awarded a total of £243,000 per annum to the Museum of London to deliver development services to non-national museums in the capital.
This is all part of ACE’s Renaissance Museum Development programme, which drives development and delivers sustainability, resilience and innovation in England’s non-national museums. It provides development opportunities for Accredited museums so that they maximise their benefits to audiences and communities.

In developing this programme Museum of London has consulted closely with London Museums Group www.londonmuseumsgroup.org (external link), the federation representing museums in London. There is also a strong commitment to build on the 2011-12 programme taking into account key needs and what has worked well previously.
Following consultation with London Museums Group the Museum Development Officer (MDO) team has been re-structured to provide more subject-specific advice. Contact the Museum Development Officers for advice and support.
ACE has also funded the Museum of London as a Renaissance Major Partner Museum for the period 2012-2015. Major Partner Museums are funded by ACE to act as centres of excellence. The regional programme pulls together the opportunities funded by Major Partner Museum funding and the Museum Development grant into a coherent overall offer.
The MDO team will also link museums to other ACE Renaissance programmes such as Strategic Support funding, Designation Development Fund and Subject Specialist Networks, campaigns such as Museums at Night and Kids in Museums, and sector support bodies such as the Collections Trust and Association of Independent Museums (AIM). It will also work closely with the network of specialist museum peers offering their services free through London Museum Group’s ‘Share London’ www.londonmuseumsgroup.org/share (external link) programme.
In each year of the three years of the 2012-15 programme Museum of London will offer a programme of support grouped according to the three headings of the ACE Museum Accreditation standard, ‘Organisational health’, ‘Collections’ and ‘Users’. Please follow these links for more information about support being offered this year.
