Share your royal wedding experience
09 May 2011
Help us tell the story of the recent royal wedding to future generations by donating souvenirs purchased on London's streets on the day.
Were you a spectator in London on the day of the royal wedding and did you purchase either a souvenir Oyster Card to travel around on the day or a souvenir from one of the many street traders?
If so, and you are willing to donate your souvenir to our collection, the Museum would like to hear from you.
London traders have a long tradition of responding to (and benefiting financially from) consumer demands to commemorate key historical events.
For example, we have this image of a young street seller selling souvenir blowers to the crowds watching King Edward VII's Coronation procession along with one of the blowers itself in our collection.
Alongside your souvenir, we would like you to share your memories of the day including where you stood, what you saw, why you came on the day, the atmosphere, the price and variety of souvenirs and the number of traders you saw on the route.
Please either email Beverley at bcook@museumoflondon.org.uk or phone 020 7814 5766 to discuss if we can save your souvenir and story for future generations to enjoy.
