Buy a Year of London’s History
Would you like to be part of London’s history and have your very own named Year – between 1666 and 2012 – on show inside the Museum of London?
Your Year will be an integral part of a Timeline handrail that winds its way round the new Galleries of Modern London.
Year of London’s History Timeline
Over the course of a generation, your Year will be seen by millions of people from all over the world. It will make a public statement that you have supported the Museum of London’s campaign to create the spectacular new Galleries of Modern London.
From April 2011, all the money raised through each new Timeline Year will support our award-winning learning programme for schools in our Clore Learning Centre. For £5,000 you can pay for nearly three days of learning, and have an impact on more than 60 schools.
There are several ways to make your gift:
- in one lump sum or
- in instalments, annually, half-yearly, quarterly or monthly, over a maximum of five years
If you are a UK taxpayer, you can increase your £5,000 donation to the Museum at no additional cost by making a Gift Aid declaration. A £5,000 donation with Gift Aid will result in the Museum receiving a gift of £6,250. If you are a 40% higher rate taxpayer, your £5,000 donation could actually cost you just £3,900 after higher rate tax relief. And if you are a 50% higher rate taxpayer, then your donation could cost you even less at £3,125.
Alternatively, you may wish to donate the sum of £4,000, and by adding Gift Aid, the Museum will receive the full price of the Year of London's History at £5,000. If you decide to give like this and are a 40% higher rate taxpayer, then your donation might actually cost you just £3,000 after higher rate tax relief. And if you are a 50% higher rate taxpayer, your donation could cost you even less at £2,500.
