Tue 4 Jun 2013	13:15		Dinosaurs in Crystal Palace Park at Museum of London University College London's Lunch Hour Lectures are on tour at The Museum of London. During June 2013, UCL's free, public, Lunch Hour Lectures will be uprooted from their usual residence at UCL and go on tour to The Museum of London. The first lecture is 'Dinosaurs in Crystal Palace Park'. The famous 'monsters' in Crystal Palace have been on display since the park opened in 1854. These are the first life-sized three-dimensional sculptures of dinosaurs and other prehistoric beasts, but there is a lot more to them than meets the eye. Discover the ideas behind them with science historian Professor Cain (UCL Science and Technology Studies). This talk will be introduced by Alex Werner (Head of History Collections, Museum of London). Tue 11 Jun 2013	13:15		Britain and the legacies of slavery at Museum of London Docklands University College London's Lunch Hour Lectures are on tour at The Museum of London. During June 2013, UCL's free, public, Lunch Hour Lectures will be uprooted from their usual residence at UCL and go on tour to The Museum of London Docklands. The second lecture is 'Britain and the legacies of slavery' delivered by Prof Catherine Hall (UCL History.) Once abolition was secured, Britons were keen to overlook slavery and emphasise the memory of emancipation. But Britain and Britons benefitted in multiple ways from slavery. By focusing on the role of the many slave-owners who lived here, should British history be reconsidered to take slavery into full account? This talk will be introduced by Tom Wareham (Curator of Maritime History, Museum of London Docklands.) More about "Britain and the legacies of slavery"	Talks	Adults
