The Museum Mission
The mission of the Museum of London is to inspire a passion for London.
We pursue this by:
- Opening galleries and temporary exhibitions;
- Preserving, researching and interpreting a national collection of objects and artefacts that define London;
- Running a cross-curricular programme of learning sessions (museum based and outreach) and resources for primary, secondary and special schools;
- Holding special events, activities, classes, lectures, seminars and promoting life-long learning;
- Integrating equality and diversity into all aspects of our work;
- Publishing popular and academic books, papers and publishing online;
- Increasing knowledge through historical and archaeological research;
- Acquiring and conserving artefacts for our collections to be available for study and display;
- Maintaining information resources, particularly relating to the collections and the history and archaeology of the capital;
- Acting as Lead Partner in the development of the London Museums Hub and the delivery of its programmes.
