London bodies evening course

In January 2006 the Museum of London began offering a twelve week introductory course in human osteology to members of the public with an interest in biological anthropology.

Student with skeletal remains

The course provided attendees with the unique opportunity to learn about the human skeleton through practical application of the skills taught by allowing limited supervised access to the Museum’s vast collection of human remains.

Studentd examining skeletal remains

Through a combination of power point presentations and practical workshops participants were taught basic skeletal anatomy, ageing and sexing the skeleton, juvenile osteology and the recognition of pathological bone.

Following three very popular terms, the 'London bodies course' is being expanded and starting in September 2007 will be taught in conjunction with Birkbeck College.
