List of communities
The site is searchable by London communities. The names used for these communities are mainly based on categories used in the 2001 census. They may designate a person’s background or geographical place of origin, their culture and their religion. As personal identities are complex and fluid, there is some amount of crossover between categories.
Past communities such as the Romans and the Anglo-Saxons are also included, as they show that the process of immigration to London dates back many centuries. There is a total of over 800 objects on the site, but a number of them are linked to more than one category.
