This menu is for the café, delicatessen counter and sandwich bars in the Oxford Street branch of F W Woolworth. The café menu includes hot and cold soups, fish and roasted meat dishes and a choice of hot and cold desserts. After the success of the American franchise, Frank Winfield Woolworth opened the first Woolworth's store in Britain in 1909. During the 1920s the business expanded rapidly and by the end of the decade there were 375 stores in the UK. Many had multiple floors selling home wares as well as music, fashion items and sweets.
