Roundhouses first appear in the Thames Valley over 3500 years ago. At first they were small farmsteads, built along the edges of fields and clearings, later they are found in larger villages.
The roundhouse continued to be the main type of home up until the Roman period. Some have even been found in Londinium. It is a style of building unique to the British Isles.
This quiz gives you the opportunity to find out how to build a roundhouse.
