What is it?

People in the Thames Valley transformed a range of locally available materials such as clay, flint and timber into items that helped perform day-to-day tasks. Animal products such as leather, bone and antler were utilised, as well as natural fibres from plants. Materials not available locally were obtained from elsewhere. For example the Thames region has no local supplies of copper or tin to make bronze, and so this was imported.
