Women

‘…many a wurshipful woman … have lyved full honourably, and theirwith many good housholdes kepte …’
(London petition, 1463)

Rich daughters were married young to make useful family connections but poorer women often waited until their 20s, marrying when they had saved enough money to set up a home with their husband.
