Shoe
Date: Early 1500s
This shoe reflects the changes in shoe fashions that occurred in the late 1400s to early 1500s. Pointed toes were replaced by round or square ones. The method of making shoes changed too, allowing new styles to be developed. The front or 'vamp' of this shoe has been slashed. This is a form of decoration, as the cuts in the leather would reveal the wearer's coloured stockings.
