Took place: July - October 2006
Jade: ‘I liked doing the poems ‘cos it has given me a lot of inspiration so I can now do good poems myself.’
Bella: ‘My favourite thing about the project was the creating and photographing, and finding many ways you could see something.’
Young female offenders from the Josephine Butler Unit at Downview Prison in Sutton were inspired by the Museum’s objects to create poetry about their lives.
As well as working with a poet, the group also worked with a photographer to photograph their chosen objects and then to create exciting designs using Photoshop, bringing together their writing and images. The work was exhibited at Sutton Library.
