Unemployed young adults aged 18 - 25 from TNG Workzone in Newham and Tower Hamlets worked with an artist to create a huge mural to brighten up the playground of a St Matthias CE Primary School playground in Brick Lane. Pupils from St Matthias took part in an archaeology workshop to choose the theme for the mural - ‘coming to brick lane.’

Before designing and painting, the young adults researched the history of Brick Lane by visiting areas of historical interest such as the Huguenot silk weavers’ houses and the Great London Mosque, which reflect the area’s identity as a place that people from all over the world have settled.

Thank you to Henry C Hoare Charitable Trust for their contribution towards this project.
