We welcome visitors with special needs and will do all we can to adapt any existing provision or services if required. For further information, please contact the Box Office.


General information

  • Guide and assistance dogs are welcome. A dog bowl is available from the café.

  • All the Museum's galleries are fully accessible to wheelchair users. Wheelchairs are available from the reception desk for use in the Museum, subject to availability.

  • All the galleries in the Museum contain seats.

  • All changes in floor level have handrails.

  • Course fees and event ticket prices for people with disabilities are at the reduced concessionary rate, where stated. Carers accompanying disabled people receive free admission.

Facilities for wheelchair users

  • All the Museum's galleries are fully accessible to wheelchair users. Lifts connect every level of the building.

  • All our courses and events are fully accessible to wheelchair users unless otherwise stated.

  • Parking is available in the Museum car park for visitors with disabilities. Please contact the Operations Managers for more information and directions:

  • Accessible toilets for wheelchair users can be found on the entrance level and levels Lower 1 and Lower 2. The café also has accessible toilets.

  • Touch tours of the Museum's galleries and exhibitions are available on request for booked groups.

Facilities for deaf and hard-of-hearing visitors

  • British Sign Language (BSL) talks and events take place regularly. Information can be found in the Events section of the website, or in the current Exhibitions & Events leaflet.   • Use the RNID's typetalk service to call the Museum's Box Office, or any other number.

  • The lecture theatre and the 'Great Fire of London Experience' in the Late Stuart gallery have induction loops.

  • For any lectures, study days or other events taking place in the lecture theatre, we can arrange for the presentations to be recorded and transcribed. Please contact the Box Office in advance of the event to request this service.

  • We regret that at present our front-of-house staff are not trained in BSL, SSE or lipspeaking. However, they all carry pens and paper and will be happy to help in any way they can.

  • The Museum is a member of MAGIC, a consortium of museums and galleries in London providing regular British Sign Language interpreted talks and events. Check out www.magicdeaf.org.uk
