The Regeneration of London's docklands

These interactive resources are designed to accompany the Museum in Docklands’ Regeneration study day.  Explore the history of London’s docklands with the timeline, which contains a variety of historic and contemporary photographs.  Prepare for your visit with the interactive whiteboard presentation, designed to be used as a whole class activity.  After your visit, individual pupils or the class can try the quiz, which builds on their study day experience.

Classroom resources

Timeline

The timeline provides a chronological framework, setting the regeneration of the area in context, from the coming of the docks in the early 1800s to the on-going regeneration of the present day. It can be use both before and after your visit and as a reference tool for coursework activities.

Interactive whiteboard presentation

The exciting and innovative interactive presentation has been developed to prepare students for their visit. It covers both the growth and decline of London’s up-river dock system and includes images of the docks in the past from the Museum of London’s collection. The questions in it are designed to be open-ended and stimulate discussion and enquiry.

Quiz

The interactive quiz is designed for pupils to complete individually, in pairs or in small groups after their visit. It builds upon knowledge acquired during the Regeneration Day and is intended both to reinforce and to extend knowledge and understanding.
