Primary schools
Sessions provide an interactive and inspirational focus for a visit. Primary pupils can handle objects, try on historical costumes, meet an historical character, enjoy storytelling or puppet theatre, or step back in time through structured role-play.
Many sessions are designed to be cross-curricular, e.g. linking National Curriculum requirements for History with those for Literacy, Citizenship, Geography or Art.
All booked sessions include priority use of related galleries, and are supported by resource packs with activity sheets for pupils to use in the relevant gallery. Prices are kept as low as possible. Teachers are able to design their own programme of study within the Museum. Support materials to help you plan your visit are available on this website and from the Museum shop. Self-directed visits must be booked in advance.
We can link up with your school through a video conference session. These are available for key stages 1 and 2.
