Heroes or villains?

The world of children’s toy theatre: The stage is set for tales of piracy on the high seas and the dastardly deeds of highwaymen, robbers and other notorious characters of the past.

Visitors were Immersed in the excitement of 19th century toy theatre as they journeyed back to an imaginative world before television and computer games, where a ferocious expression and smouldering pistol were all that was needed to win the day.

Young and Old came face to face with an infamous cast of ne’er do wells with glittering tinsel pictures and toy theatre characters from the Regency and Victorian period.

A toy theatre set gave children the chance to dress up and act out scenes from their favourite stories and there were also special workshops to take part in.
