Visit the London Archaeological Archive and Research Centre, the Museum’s award-winning archaeological archive which has recently been awarded the title of the world’s largest archaeological archive, as adjudicated by Guinness World Records (external link). Here you can see and handle some of the thousands of finds that haven't yet made it into our galleries.

Roman fort visit

Tour the remains of the western gate of London’s Roman military
fort, located beneath the streets next to the Museum.
PLEASE NOTE that due to the terrain on site at the Roman fort this tour is not accessible to wheelchair users.

Go behind the scenes at the Museum’s Archaeological Archive after hours and discover rarely-seen finds from a stone age axe to medieval high-fashion shoes. Enjoy curator-led tours and object handling, plus learn how to make chain mail and apply make up Roman-style.
