Key Stages: Keystage 2

Location: Museum of London Docklands

Meet Sainsbury's manager Alf Turner in the Sainsbury Archive to find out about life as a grocer in the late 1940s. Alf has recently returned to Sainsburys after being away in the army, and in this interactive session he'll help your pupils find out about who worked in the shop during the war, why some foods are still rationed even though the war is over, and what it's like working for the company. Pupils can compare their own shopping experiences with a range of pre- and post-visit activities, and explore imported commodities and Sainsbury's own goods with a self-directed gallery visit.

Group Size: 35

Duration: 45 minute session plus 1 hour self-directed gallery visit.
