The aim of this day is for students to inquire into who Londoners are, as well as examining their own sense of identity and belonging. The day includes an Indian dance workshop, where they will consider what connects the diverse communities of London and create a cross-cultural performance piece set to a soundtrack using the Museum's oral archives. They will also take part in a creative writing workshop looking at their own identity and how they see it connecting to where they live. The gallery activities will lead students through the galleries of Modern London focusing on the theme of where Londoners have come from, their diversity of lifestyle, attitudes and beliefs.
Curriculum links: KS3 Citizenship: Encourages respect for different national, religious and ethnic identities and equips pupils to engage critically with and explore diverse ideas, beliefs, cultures and identities and the values we share as citizens in the UK. Key concepts: 1.1 Democracy and justice 1.3 Identities and diversity: living together in the UK
Group Size: 35 maximum, 3 groups per day
