Alderman Alison Gowman

Alison joined the Museum of London board of governors in 2014.

Alison Gowman is a Senior Partner at DLA Piper UK LLP, specialising in real estate. She has worked in the City training at Alsop Stevens Batesons & Co which merged and grew into one of the largest international law firms. She has also worked on investment and development transactions both within the City and nationally and assisted international businesses as they have entered the UK and European environment.

Alison has been Alderman for the Ward of Dowgate since 2002. She was previously a Member of the Court of Common Council and latterly Deputy for the Ward of Dowgate from
1991 – 2002. She has served on numerous City committees and was Chair of the City of London School for Girls as well as the Chair of the energy and sustainability working party. She has promoted the importance of sustainable working and targets in the City context both by advocacy (lecturing and articles) and in practical implementation. She is a trustee of Sir John Soane’s Museum and the Old Royal Naval College at Greenwich, as well as a Governor of Gresham College.
