Court Dress regulations required women to wear feather plumes or carry feathers when being presented at court. Such large ostentatious fans might also have been seen at formal balls but not in crowded nightclubs. Feather evening bags were being advertised in 1924 as 'exceptionally smart'. They were also exceptionally expensive at 55 shillings.
