Newgate Prison
 Macabre London

In 1760, crimes which carried the death penalty included arson, forgery and the maiming of cattle. Condemned prisoners were held at Newgate Prison before being publicly hanged in front of the prison or at Tyburn. See the reconstruction at the Museum of part of Newgate with the original iron prison doors.
