Dugout boat

Londoners

A reconstruction of a Mesolithic (Middle Stone Age) group making a dug-out boat in an encampment by the River Thames, c.6000 BC. The landscape of south east England was heavily wooded at this time and the Thames and its tributaries would have been the chief means of communication, as well as a good source of food.
