NERO
Emperor AD54-68
Nero's mother became the last wife of the emperor Claudius and was
instrumental in putting Nero forward as successor to Claudius. Nero
preferred to devote himself to singing, acting and chariot-racing, rather
than managing affairs of state. His reign was marked by Queen Boudica's
rebellion which levelled Roman London, Colchester and St Albans, and
by the fire that destroyed much of Rome in AD64.
