FAUSTINA

Empress AD138-41

Antoninus Pius and his wife Annia Galeria Faustina had two sons and two daughters, three of whom died before Antoninus became emperor. They were left with one daughter, Faustina the younger. Antoninus Pius was devoted to Faustina the elder and built a temple for her on her death in AD141. Commemorative coins that deified her were also issued.
