These photographs form part of the Child's Eye exhibition of photos taken by our child members . They show us how they view their lives, growing up today as part of a one-parent family. They also represent the creativity, positive focus and hope of these children. Email: kathy@gingerbread.org.uk
Girl's Brigade, founded 1893, 31,782 members The new award handbook takes the Girls' Brigade into the 21st century. The initial letters of our programme stand for Spiritual, Physical, Educational Service, whilst spes is the Latin word for hope. Our hope is that, with new and relevant activities, girls will become 'followers of the Lord Jesus Christ', the one true hope. Email: n/a
Grand Order of Lady Ratlings, founded 1929, 190 members
The regalia is worn to denote different offices. When you are first initiated you are given a gold sash to indicate that you are a Ratling. This pale blue sash belonged to Sylvia Dennis. These sashes belong to the Queen for a lifetime. After being secretary for fifteen years Sylvia Dennis was also given the honorary title of Preceptor. Email: n/a
Greek Orthodox Cathedral of St Mary, church founded 1970, 30,000-40,000 members Icons play a significant part in both the Church and everyday life of Orthodox Christians. This icon represents St Barnabas, the patron Saint of our Greek Orthodox community in North London. Email: n/a
Groucho Club, founded 1985, 3862 members Our club membership has a strong representation within the show business, music and comedy world. Every year these members put on an evening's entertainment for charity. The club is often the place for members to celebrate book launches, film premiers etc. and our own label champagne is a great favourite. Email: tony@grouchoclub.com
Guild of Registered Tourist Guides, founded 1950, 2000+ members The blue badge is a sign of a trained, registered tourist guide. This badge was previously owned by Elsa Behrens, one of the first to qualify as a registered tourist guide-lecturer in 1950. Sikh community of Redbridge and surrounding boroughs We have chosen this painting of the Golden Temple in Amritsar, India because it is a central place of worship for Sikhs, and one of the finest examples of Sikh architecture. Guru Ramdas, the fourth Guru, established Amritsar, as a centre of worship. Guru Arjan, the fifth Guru, requested Mian Mir, a Moslem divine, to lay the foundations of the Golden Temple there in 1589. Email: n/a Half Moon Young People's Theatre, founded 1990, 200 members The Spring 2000 production of Year Whatever targeted the 14-plus age range. It also explored inter-language use. The lines starred in the script were spoken in one of the following languages : Urdu, Sylethi and Punjabi. This three-hander was a surprising hit with young people from diverse backgrounds. Ham Amenities Group, founded 1979, 320 members Our group was initially established to clean up the area around Ham Common. The book is our Millennium project, funded by the National Lottery, with over 100 people contributing articles or information. Hampstead Friends Meeting, founded 1898, 128 members This certificate records a declaration of marriage made in a 'meeting for worship for marriage', signed by those present. Quakers seek the truth through the silence and ministry of regular meetings for worship. They have worshipped and married in this way since the 17th century. Email: n/a
