Introduction
Find out about the telephone communication revolution and its history in our temporary exhibition 'Connected London'.
Today many Londoners take telephone communication for granted, but it wasn’t long ago that the first telephone was introduced to the capital. In fact the first telephone service in London was introduced just 125 years ago. Today 75% of adult Londoners own a mobile phone, each day millions of text messages are sent and half of all London households have access to the Internet.
