1879 – 1934

This period saw the introduction of what we think of today as the telephone. For the first time ever it was possible to have a two-way conversation with somebody who wasn’t close by. In 1910 when you signed up for a telephone contract the Post Office would supply you with a standard ‘No.1’ wall telephone.
