1961 – 2004
In 1964, the completion of the Post Office Tower (now BT Tower), then Britain’s tallest building, marked a new age of telecommunication in the capital.
By 1975 there were 5 million phone lines in London. Can you imagine that only in 1985 Cellnet and Vodafone mobile phone services were launched. So in only 19 years we have gone from no mobile phones to three out of four Londoners now owning one.
