Collins' Farm, on the edge of Hampstead Heath, was the home of John Linnell and his family. Due to the Linnells' hospitality it became an important retreat and meeting place for three generations of artists who met to discuss nature, literature and their esoteric beliefs. Visitors included William Blake, John Varley and Samuel Palmer, the founder of 'the Ancients'.
