William Blake (1757 - 1827)

With his political radicalism and spiritual beliefs William Blake had long been misunderstood by the Establishment. He was an inspirational figure for younger Hampstead painters like Samuel Palmer. John Linnell and his family accepted Blake into their home and he became a regular visitor to Collins' Farm, walking there from the Strand on most Sundays.
