Potter William de Morgan
moved to Chelsea in 1872 where he could afford a house with a
garden for his kiln. Between 1872 and 1881 he produced 300 tile
designs which remained in production for the rest of his career.
These fantastically decorated lustre-glazed tiles show great freedom
of design and were popular with the new middle-class in Kensington,
Chelsea and Bedford Park.
