Sickert and Gore met in Dieppe in 1904 and became firm friends. When Sickert returned to England, Gore often worked at his studio. From 1909 Gore became fascinated with his Camden Town surroundings. Most of his urban subjects were found within a few metres of his home and were transformed in his work through his vivid use of colouring.
