Many of the generation
of 'Young British Artists', working in London from the late 1980s
met at Goldsmiths College. Their reputation for wit and irreverence
first emerged through events like the 1988 exhibition Freeze held
at Surrey Quays and curated by Damien Hirst when he was still
a Goldsmith's student. Many of the artists, including Marc Quinn,
Gary Hume and Sarah Lucas have since become international names.
