The first organisation
providing East End studios for artists was SPACE, founded in 1968
by a group of artists including Bridget Riley and Peter Sedgley.
Their first studio venture was at St Katharine's Docks where they
leased a warehouse from the Greater London Council from 1968 until
1970.
