London Transport Special Bus Service tickets
To
increase the accessibility of the Festival sites in London and to
link them together, London Transport provided eight special bus services.
The bus service between the South Bank and Battersea had to compete
with a popular riverbus service, while the river and bus service between
Lansbury and Cannon Street was reduced to an ‘as required’ service
due to under-subscription. Links between both the South Bank and the
Festival Gardens and various car parks were under-subscribed, with
some eventually withdrawn, but the service between Sloane Square Underground
station and the Festival Gardens was well used. It was also possible
to take a two hour circular tour ‘around the town for half a crown’.
