The
Design Review, developed by the Council of Industrial Design
(CoID) and displayed in the arches under Waterloo Bridge, encompassed
a pictorial index of 20,000 products approved for their high standards
of industrial design. Around 10,000 products were integrated into the
Festival exhibitions, reflecting design as a core element of the Festival.
A green version of this condiment set was highlighted in the CoID’s
publication Design in the Festival. It was selected as being
‘typical of good design for mass production, using the curved forms
characteristic of the plastic moulding process’, ‘sold inexpensively
over the counters of a thousand chain-stores.’
