Activity Sheets

The following activity sheets are designed for teachers to use when visiting the High Street Londinium exhibition.

The low lighting and relatively confined conditions, make it impracticable for pupils to complete activity sheets whilst actually visiting the reconstructions. Besides, we would not wish to detract from the enjoyment of the experience itself!

Therefore we suggest that you use the activity sheets in the following way :

When visiting the exhibition with pupils do:

  • give them plenty of time to look around.
  • encourage them to touch the reconstructions and replicas carefully.
  • remind them that other members of the public will be visiting the exhibition.
  • ask them questions that will make them observe closely and perhaps make deductions.
  • encourage them to make comparisons with modern buildings and objects.
  • ask them what we can learn about the lives of early Londoners from the exhibition.
