The ExhibitionThe Pepys’ London exhibition, at the Museum of London, runs from 8 May to 2 November 2003. It is open during the Museum’s normal opening hours, and there is no admission charge. Some 200 items are on display, arranged in themed sections to illustrate different aspects of Pepys’ life and achievements. Most of the items are accompanied by quotations from Pepys’ diary. These web pages include the full exhibition text and reflect the exhibition’s presentational style – both its structure and its appearance. Each of the 12 themes corresponds to a single display case and exhibition section, though only some of the objects are illustrated. In the Pepys’ World section, however, are links to other resources and some additional information. The Museum of London is especially grateful to the lead sponsor, The Corporation of Trinity House; also to The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths. All quotations from Pepys’ diary have been drawn from the Latham & Matthews edition, reproduced by permission of the Master and Fellows, Magdalene College, Cambridge. We are grateful also to those who have lent items to the exhibition or have supplied images for reproduction. They are credited in the captions, as appropriate. All other items belong to the Museum of London. |
