Studio/art pottery
Studio pottery and art pottery is usually made in a very individual and contemporary style by a single potter, or a small group of potters, either as a small company, or as a small part of a larger company. The pottery produced is often very different from the mass-produced ceramics of the period. Rather than quantities of tableware, art and studio potteries frequently concentrate on more decorative items.
The Museum of London Ceramics and Glass collection includes over 175 pieces of studio and art pottery, including the Owen Ball Gem collection of Martinware.
