Production date: 1591-1610 Material: glass Measurements: H 223 mm; DM (rim) c. 83 mm; DM (foot) 88 mm Museum Section: Post-Medieval Summary: Incomplete glass goblet, colourless with grey/green tinge and slight irridescence. Complete profile, but damaged. Slender, deep bowl on a hollow-blown inverted baluster stem. There is a slight boss at the base of the bowl and the bowl and stem are separated by a double merese. The basal merese has been smoothed upwards over the roughened end of the stem. The folded foot is almost complete, and there is a rough pontil scar underneath. Possibly produced by the Mansell glasshouse. From a brick lined cesspit. Location: Object stored at Mortimer Wheeler House (Ceramics and Glass store) |
